Good news for climbers and nature lovers!
Following the recent fires, 80% of the Fontainebleau Forest is now open again and ready to welcome climbers, walkers and visitors.

The remaining 20% is still closed as a precautionary measure, while the ONF (Office National des Forêts) continues its work in the affected areas to ensure the safety of everyone and help the forest recover.

Fontainebleau is a unique place, and we all have a responsibility to protect it. Whether you come here to climb, walk, explore or simply enjoy the forest, please help us preserve this incredible environment by following these simple good practices:

1. Leave no trace — Take all your rubbish with you.

2. No fire, barbecues or smoking — Help prevent another devastating fire.

3. Respect closed areas — Follow signs, barriers and ONF instructions.

4. Protect the sandstone and forest floor — Avoid damaging vegetation and creating new paths.

5. Take care of the boulders — Clean your climbing shoes and gently brush away excess chalk after climbing.

6. Carry your crash pad — don't drag it — Protect the fragile vegetation and prevent erosion.

7. Respect wildlife and vegetation — Leave plants, animals and dead wood undisturbed.

8. Respect other visitors and climbers — Share the forest peacefully and responsibly.

9. Keep your dog under control — Follow local rules and use a lead when required.

10. Check conditions before you go — Access can change. Always follow the latest official information and on-site signs.
